Biography: Dr. Akhter is a neuroscientist/ researcher in the field of Neurodegenerative diseases focusing on Alzheimer’s Disease. She did her PhD in Neuroscience from CSIR- Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (CSIR-IICB) and awarded with the degree in 2015. Her PhD thesis examined the role of pro-apoptotic BH3-only proteins of BCL2 family in Alzheimer’s Disease associated neurodegeneration. Her postdoctoral research work in Cleveland Clinic, USA entails regulation of disease modulating APP pathway in AD. Her research interests are Neurodegenerative Diseases, Alzheimer’s Disease, Neuroinflammation, Aging, Epigenetics.
